How to read the matrix
Risk rises with deployment category and data sensitivity, and falls as transparency improves. A high-risk category combined with biometric data and low transparency is the red zone: transparency duties, human oversight, and documented evidence need to be in place before scaling. Fix red cells first, document what changed, and re-run this calculator whenever the category, data, or transparency level changes.

FAQ
Is this legal advice?
No. This tool is an informational self-assessment for operational readiness — it is not legal advice.
Does my input leave my device?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser, and the PDF is generated by your browser's print function.
What makes a deployment high-risk?
Under the EU AI Act, categories in Annex III — including hiring, credit, education, biometrics and safety — carry high-risk duties. This screener flags those categories so you can prioritise evidence and oversight.
